Boys Tennis and Baseball

On a beautiful Monday afternoon, I fit two boys events in at the High School. I was able to catch a few shots of the boys tennis team matches early. They played on the Gates-Chili Middle school courts against Rush Henrietta.

After I grabbed a few photos of them, I walked over to the varsity baseball game. The boys were playing the Churchville Chili Saints. The Saints have a very good team with alot of returning players from a game I shot last year at Dwyer stadium in the sectional finals. It was very surprising to watch Gates defeat this favored team. Very glad to see GC showing some improvement after such a rough start to the year.

Hilton Lacrosse Dominates the Face-off

After 5 inninngs of varsity softball I drove over to the high school stadium for the boys lacrosse game. They were playing the Hilton Cadets tonight. Not too much to talk about in the game except the great ability of the Hilton face-off man. I never have seen a high schooler dominate the face-off like this athlete did. I am pretty sure he won every single face-off that night against Gates.

Sunny Girls Softball

Here are some more varsity girls softball photos taken on a very bright sunny day showing some harsh shadows. Gates played at home against Rush Henrietta. I didn't get to see the whole game because I had to leave for boys lacrosse. I shot about 6 innings so I am unsure who won. Here are some shots...

Boys Golf at Chili Country Club

I took off some time at work Wednesday to photograph the boy's golf team. They were facing off against the Hilton Cadets. I believe Gates Chili won the match but I am not sure because I only stayed for a few holes. I did not want to distract the golfers too much, so i got the shots I needed and left. I hope the boy's team enjoy the photos. I am sure they don't see too much media covering them until postseason matches.

One Photographer, Two Softball Games

I wanted to fit in two games Tuesday at Gates Chili. Both the varsity and JV softball teams were playing at the same time right next to each other. After shooting about four innings of varsity, I walked over and shot a little bit more than 3 innings of JV. I try to at least shoot each JV sport once each season and this was my chance to fit softball in. Here is a mix of varsity(solid blue) and JV(blue and white) photos...

Girls Lacrosse in the Dusk

The girls played a very tough Pittsford Panthers lacrosse team at the Gates Chili High School stadium. I shot this game after about 5 innings of baseball so I was not going to stay for second half. Tryed a few different angles including far behind the net for the coming-at-you effect. Didn't really ever get that shot but did get some great low shots from across the whole field. Check them out.

Varsity Boys on the Diamond

The boys baseball team was at home again but it was just a little bit warmer than the previous game. The Spartans faced off against the Hilton Cadets who have a very good team. With one of the Cadets best pitchers on the mound Hilton defeated Gates Chili 9-2. Better than the last game at home but still have some work to do. My blog writings will definitely not be long this week because I am packing in a ton of games with many different sports for the next few days. Here are the pics...

Bitter Cold JV Girls Lacrosse

Once the boys baseball game got out of hand, I headed over to the JV girls lacrosse game where Gates took on the Greece Thunder. The weather definitely was colder by this time of the day and most fans were pretty covered up. I stayed for a while shooting until my fingers could not push the button anymore. Some shots from the cold night...

Boys Sluggers Start off Cold

Just like the boys lacrosse team Gates-Chili's baseball also got off to a rough start. Thursday the Spartans lost 15-1 to the Pittsford Sutherland Knights. The Knights came out slugging scoring in bunches. Gates really never got into the swing of things on a very cold and windy night. Hopefully they will pick up their game in the next game. Here are some shots...

Overtime Loss for the Boys

Boys Lacrosse was at it again except this time it was a much closer game. Gates played fellow Chili resident school, the Churchville-Chili Saints on Gates-Chili's home field. It was a great game with some decent weather that was tied 8-8 after four quarters and had to be resolved in overtime. Churchville won the faceoff to start sudden death and won it on a quick goal about one minute into the extra period. The pics...

Gates Girls LAX Opener

Like the boys lacrosse team, the girls also lost their opener at McAvoy Park. Gates Chili faced off against Mercy and had a tough time stopping the Monarchs from scoring early. The Spartans did bounce back with a late surge but came up short. The pics...

Conesus Lake Inlet

Traveled down to Conesus Lake to check out the pike and walleye run at the inlet. Not many fish at the wall but there were a few pike trying to jump over. Farther down were a bunch of walleye preparing to make their attempt. I walked down the trail and saw one of the Bald Eagles flying through. Alot of Red-Winged Blackbirds were performing their mating rituals. Here are a few shots.
